CIS Returns for Contractors
We handle your monthly CIS returns so you stay compliant, avoid penalties, and never miss a deadline. Whether you're a main contractor or subcontractor in Cardiff and South Wales, we'll make sure HMRC gets what they need on time, every time.

CIS support that covers everything
From registration and verification to monthly filings and rebate claims, we handle the full CIS cycle for contractors and subcontractors across South Wales.
Monthly CIS Return Filing
We prepare and submit your returns by the 19th of each month, including nil returns when needed.
Subcontractor Verification
We verify your subcontractors with HMRC and confirm the correct deduction rate before you pay them.
CIS Rebate Claims
We review your expenses and reclaim overpaid tax from HMRC, often recovering £1,200 to £4,500 a year.
Deduction Statement Checks
We audit your monthly statements to catch errors in calculations or incorrect deduction percentages.
How we keep your CIS returns on track
If you're a contractor in the construction industry, you're required to file a CIS return with HMRC every month by the 19th. That applies even if you haven't paid any subcontractors that month. Miss the deadline and you'll face a £100 penalty from day one, rising quickly if the problem continues. We take care of the filing, the verification, and the record-keeping so you can focus on running your sites.
Our process starts with making sure you're registered correctly as a CIS contractor or subcontractor. We then verify each subcontractor before you pay them, confirming whether they qualify for the 20% deduction rate or the higher 30% rate. Once payments are made, we calculate the deductions on the net amount (excluding materials), prepare your return, and submit it online. You'll get a copy for your records, and we'll issue deduction statements to your subcontractors within 14 days.
We've never missed a CIS deadline for a client in nearly ten years.
More information
Many contractors we work with in Cardiff have been caught out by late filings before they came to us. The penalty structure is unforgiving: £100 after one day, £200 after two months, and it can climb to £3,000 or a percentage of the tax due if HMRC decides the delay was deliberate. Even if you owe nothing, the penalty still applies. We set up reminders, track your subcontractor payments, and make sure every return goes in on time.
What's included in our CIS service
- Monthly return preparation and online submission
- Subcontractor verification and rate confirmation
- Deduction calculations on labour-only payments
- Deduction statements issued to subcontractors
- Nil return filing when no payments are made
- HMRC query and correspondence handling
- Expense reviews for potential rebate claims
If you're a subcontractor, we also help you reclaim tax that's been overdeducted. Because CIS deductions are taken at source, many subbies end up paying more tax during the year than they actually owe. We review your allowable expenses (travel, tools, protective clothing, vehicle costs), prepare your self-assessment return, and claim back the difference. It's common to recover between £1,200 and £4,500 a year, and we can go back up to four previous tax years if you've never claimed before.
We work with builders, groundworkers, electricians, plumbers, and decorators right across South Wales. Whether you're working on new-build estates in Pontypridd, refurbishments in the Bay, or commercial fit-outs in the city centre, we understand the local work patterns and the expenses that apply. After we've filed your return or processed your rebate, we stay in touch with monthly reminders, help you track receipts, and make sure you're not overpaying again next year.
